The registration process for NEET UG, India’s main medical entrance exam, is expected to start soon. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the official notification on its website in the coming days. Based on previous years, the application process usually begins in February. The NEET UG exam is likely to be conducted in May 2026.

NEET UG is conducted for admission to courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, and BHMS. From this year, physiotherapy courses will also be included under NEET UG admissions, which makes the exam even more important for medical aspirants.

As per the latest information from the National Medical Commission (NMC), India now has around 1.29 lakh MBBS seats available across more than 800 medical colleges. Compared to last year, the total number of MBBS seats has increased significantly. These seats are divided between government and private medical colleges.

In Rajasthan, there are over 5,400 MBBS seats available in different medical colleges. Among them, Udaipur is an important medical education hub, currently offering about 1,150 MBBS seats through various government and private colleges. This number is expected to increase further this year, and Udaipur may soon have more than 1,250 MBBS seats, giving students better chances of admission.
