Getting a score between 70 and 80 percentile in JEE Main may not get you into the institutes but you still have a lot of good options

With this score you can try to get into -level NITs depending on your category and where you are from some IIITs that are not as competitive government engineering colleges in your state and many private universities that are well known.

You can usually get into branches like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and sometimes Chemical Engineering with this score but the cut-offs change every year.

What happens with admission depends on a lot of things like what category you belong to, if there are any quotas for your gender, where you’re from, how many people are applying and how hard the exam was that year.

Because of all these variables it is not an idea to just wait for one counselling round.

You should do these things:

* Participate fully in JoSAA and CSAB counselling.

* Apply to counselling processes in your state.

* Keep universities as options to fall back on.

* Check what the cut-offs were in years.

In short, getting a 70–80 percentile in JEE Main does not mean you do not have a future.

If you make choices and plan properly you can get into a good engineering college and have a strong academic path ahead of you with JEE Main being just the start.

JEE Main is an exam but it is not the only thing that decides your future and a 70–80 percentile in JEE Main can still get you into a decent college.
