NMAT

The NMAT by GMAC 2026 is a prominent computer-adaptive entrance exam primarily used for admission into NMIMS University and other top-tier business schools in India and abroad. Unlike traditional static tests, the NMAT adjusts its difficulty in real-time; if you answer a question correctly, the subsequent question becomes more challenging and carries a higher point value. The NMAT is unique because it offers a long “testing window” rather than a single exam day.

The NMAT 2026 syllabus is categorized into three core sections, each designed to test specific management competencies through 36 questions.

Language Skills
This section evaluates your English proficiency across three main pillars: Vocabulary, Grammar, and Reading Comprehension. You will encounter questions on synonyms and antonyms, analogies, fill-in-the-blanks, and cloze tests. The grammar portion focuses on error identification, sentence correction, and prepositions, while comprehension tasks involve analyzing short or long passages for themes, inferences, and specific details.

Quantitative Skills
This section measures mathematical aptitude and data-handling abilities. It is divided into Arithmetic (ratios, percentages, averages, and interest), Algebra (linear/quadratic equations and logs), and Modern Math (probability, permutations, and combinations). Additionally, a significant portion is dedicated to Data Interpretation (graphs, charts, and tables) and Data Sufficiency, which require analyzing whether the provided information is enough to solve a problem.

Logical Reasoning
The reasoning section assesses your critical and analytical thinking through two primary types of logic. Critical Reasoning includes statement-based questions such as assumptions, conclusions, and strengthening/weakening arguments. Analytical Reasoning involves solving complex puzzles, seating arrangements, blood relations, coding-decoding, syllogisms, and input-output patterns.

The NMAT consists of 108 questions to be completed in 120 minutes. A major advantage is that there is no negative marking.

Section Questions Time Limit Score Range
Language Skills 36 28 mins 12–120
Quantitative Skills 36 52 mins 12–120
Logical Reasoning 36 40 mins 12–120
