MAT (CBT)

The MAT CBT 2026 (Management Aptitude Test – Computer-Based Test) for the February/March session is a national-level MBA entrance exam scheduled for March 8, 2026. Managed by the All India Management Association (AIMA), the test has been updated to a streamlined format consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 120 minutes. The exam is divided into five equal sections: Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, and the recently updated Economic & Business Environment (formerly Indian & Global Environment).

The MAT CBT 2026 syllabus is designed to evaluate your general management aptitude across five core areas.

Section-by-Section Important Topics

1. Mathematical Skills (Quantitative Aptitude)
This section assesses your numerical ability. Approximately 70-80% of the questions are usually from Arithmetic.

  • Arithmetic: Percentages, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Work, and Averages.
  • Number System: HCF & LCM, Divisibility Rules, and Fractions.
  • Algebra: Linear and Quadratic Equations, and Inequalities.
  • Modern Math: Probability, Permutations, and Combinations.
  • Geometry: Circles, Triangles, and Mensuration (Area/Volume).

2. Data Analysis & Sufficiency
This section evaluates how you interpret and conclude information from raw data.

  • Data Interpretation: Bar Graphs, Pie Charts, Line Graphs, and Data Tables.
  • Data Sufficiency: Determining if provided statements are enough to answer a question.
  • Caselets: Descriptive paragraphs that contain data points for multiple questions.
  • Venn Diagrams: Logical grouping and overlap of data sets.

3. Intelligence & Critical Reasoning
This area tests your logical thinking and pattern recognition.

  • Analytical Reasoning: Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Seating Arrangements, and Direction Sense.
  • Critical Reasoning: Statement-Assumption, Cause & Effect, and Strengthening/Weakening Arguments.
  • Logic: Syllogisms, Analogies, Clocks, and Calendars.

4. Language Comprehension
This section measures your English proficiency and verbal ability.

  • Reading Comprehension: 3–5 short-to-medium passages with direct and inference-based questions.
  • Vocabulary: Synonyms, Antonyms, One-word Substitutions, and Idioms/Phrases.
  • Grammar: Sentence Correction, Subject-Verb Agreement, and Tenses.
  • Verbal Ability: Para Jumbles (rearranging sentences) and Fill in the Blanks.

5. Economic & Business Environment
While this section is often excluded from the main percentile calculation, it is reported to colleges as a measure of your general awareness.

  • Business News: Mergers & Acquisitions, Top CEOs, and Brand Taglines.
  • Economy: GDP, Inflation, Banking terms (RBI, Repo Rate), and Fiscal Policy.
  • General Awareness: Awards & Honors, Famous Books & Authors, and International Organizations (UN, WTO, IMF).

The MAT CBT 2026 exam pattern has been streamlined to a shorter, more focused format. The test now consists of 150 questions (reduced from the traditional 200) to be completed within a total duration of 120 minutes. The exam is divided into five equal sections, each containing 30 multiple-choice questions.
