The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT 2026) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into MBA and PGDM programs across 1,300+ AICTE-approved institutions in India. The exam is scheduled to take place on January 25, 2026, as a computer-based test (CBT) lasting 180 minutes (3 hours). Eligibility is broad, requiring only a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories), and notably, there is no upper age limit for candidates.

The CMAT 2026 syllabus is divided into five mandatory sections, with 20 questions each. The exam consistently covers the following high-priority topics:
1. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (QTDI): This section heavily emphasizes Arithmetic (70% weightage) and basic Data Interpretation.
- Arithmetic: Percentages, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Averages, Time & Work, and Simple/Compound Interest.
- Algebra & Number System: Linear/Quadratic Equations, Progressions, HCF/LCM, and Logarithms.
- Geometry & Mensuration: Triangles, Circles, and Volume/Surface Area calculation.
- Data Interpretation: Interpreting Pie Charts, Bar Graphs, and Tables.
2. Logical Reasoning (LR)
Tests your analytical and critical thinking through both verbal and non-verbal puzzles.
- Analytical Reasoning: Linear and Circular Seating Arrangements, Puzzles, and Matrix-based grouping.
- Logic Basics: Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, and Series (Number/Alphabet).
- Verbal Reasoning: Syllogisms, Statement-Assumption, Cause-Effect, and Inferences.
3. Language Comprehension
Focuses on reading speed and English proficiency.
- Reading Comprehension: 3-4 passages usually based on business, ethics, or society.
- Vocabulary: Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms, and One-word substitutions.
- Grammar: Error spotting, Sentence Correction, and Para-jumbles.
4. General Awareness (GA)
- Static GK: Indian Constitution, History, Geography, and Science.
- Business & Economy: Stock markets, Banking terms, and Brand-CEO names.
- Current Affairs: Recent awards, Sports events, and National/International news from the last 12 months.
5. Innovation & Entrepreneurship
This section is unique to CMAT and covers business fundamentals and the startup ecosystem.
- Entrepreneurship Basics: Types of entrepreneurs, business models (B2B/B2C), and funding stages (Angel, VC).
- Innovation: Design thinking, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and new-age tech (AI, Blockchain) in business.
- Government Initiatives: Startup India, Make in India, and various MSME schemes.
The paper is divided into five mandatory sections, each designed to test specific managerial aptitudes. There are a total of 100 questions (20 per section), and the exam is scored out of 400 marks.
