The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, established in 1986 in collaboration with FIT, New York, is the oldest and most prestigious campus of NIFT. Located in the prime Hauz Khas area, it serves as the headquarters for the 19 NIFT campuses across India and is consistently ranked as the #1 fashion institute in the country by major publications like India Today and Outlook.
As the flagship campus, NIFT Delhi offers the most comprehensive range of Bachelor of Design (B.Des) specializations. The program is a 4-year undergraduate degree that begins with a mandatory Foundation Year (common to all design students) before moving into specialized tracks.

B.Des admission involves a two-stage entrance exam: a written test with Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT), followed by a Situation Test for shortlisted candidates, then counselling based on weighted scores (CAT 50%, GAT 30%, Situation Test 20%) for seat allocation. The process begins with online registration on the NIFT website, leading to the exam, and concludes with seat allocation based on rank and choice filling.
