Established in 1911, King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow is one of India’s oldest and most prestigious medical institutions. Originally founded to commemorate the visit of King George V (then the Prince of Wales), the university is renowned for its grand Indo-Saracenic architecture and its status as the only government medical institution in Uttar Pradesh to hold an NAAC A++ grade.
Affiliated with the National Medical Commission (NMC), KGMU admits 250 MBBS students annually and offers a vast array of postgraduate, dental (BDS/MDS), and super-specialty programs. Its attached hospital, Gandhi Memorial & Associated Hospitals, is a massive tertiary care complex with over 4,500 beds, providing students with incredible clinical exposure and pioneering treatments like robotic surgery and bone marrow transplants.
