The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is going to have a lot of students taking it this year. In fact NEET 2026 will have the students taking it ever. Than 26 lakh students are expected to sign up for NEET this year. This is a jump from previous years.

More and more students want to be doctors and study medicine. Every year a lot of students compete for a number of seats in courses like MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other medical programs. These programs are offered by government and medical colleges.

In the last few years the number of students taking NEET has gone up steadily. For example around 24 lakh students took NEET in 2024. More than 25 lakh students took it in 2025. Now with over 26 lakh students expected to take NEET in 2026 it could be the NEET exam ever.

Experts think that more students want to take NEET because they want to study medicine and work in healthcare. Also more people are aware of the careers they can have in healthcare and more medical colleges are opening up. However even though more students are taking NEET there are still not seats for everyone. This makes it very hard to get into a medical college.

The National Testing Agency or NTA is in charge of NEET every year. They help students get into medical courses all over India. With many students taking the NEET in 2026 it is going to be very competitive. Students will have to study hard to get into a good medical college. NEET 2026 is going to be a challenge for all the students taking it. The students taking NEET will have to be very prepared to get a seat in a medical college.
