JEE Main 2026 Colleges vs Percentile: Cutoff and College List

JEE Main 2026 Colleges vs Percentile: Cutoff and College List

This article is about understanding which colleges you can get into based on your JEE Main 2026 percentile. It helps you estimate your chances of getting into NITs, IIITs and other engineering colleges.

Colleges Based on Percentile

Colleges need different percentile scores to get in.

For NITs like Trichy, Surathkal and Warangal you usually need a very high percentile, around 97 to 99 or more especially if you want popular branches like Computer Science.

For mid-level or newer NITs, a percentile of 90 to 95 may be enough to get in.

Even if you have a percentile of 80 to 90 you can still get into some colleges depending on your category and branch preference.

Expected Cutoff Percentile (Category Wise)

To be eligible for counselling:

General category students usually need a percentile of around 93 to 95.

OBC and EWS candidates may need a percentile of around 80 or more.

SC and ST category cutoffs are lower than the General category cutoffs.

These cutoffs are based on previous year trends. May change depending on how tough the competition is.

Closing Ranks

Your All India Rank also matters for admission.

Top NITs have closing ranks while other institutes have higher closing ranks. A lower rank means you did better and have a chance of getting your preferred branches.
